A Strong Identity

I feel a song coming on....it goes like this....

"I am what I am
And what I am needs no excuses
I deal my own deck
Sometimes the ace sometimes the deuces
It's my life that I want to have a little pride in
My life and it's not a place I have to hide in
Life's not worth a danm til you can shout out
I am what I am"

If you can hear Gloria Gaynor singing this, you win a GOLD star. Take a moment to listen to this song and really 'hear' the words as it's uplifting and shifts your vibration. There's something in those words...

Having a strong identity is simply knowing yourself and being confident with who you are as a person. It's about having strong boundaries and feeling ok standing out from the crowd if you feel a little different. There's only one of you and in a world where everything is becoming more and more homogenized, be ok with being who you really are.

For many years I shied away from expressing the spiritual side of me because deep down I worried about being judged, but it leaked out regardless. Not owning who I am is ultimately a disservice to myself and at the end of day, not everyone is going to jam with me and that's ok. What's more important is standing strong in who I am as a person and not giving a fudge what other people think.

Yes it might take a lifetime to 'not give a damn', but rather than waiting till old age, don't you think it's worth not giving a damn right now?

So how do you cultivate a strong identity?

First, get to know yourself - without any spiritual bypassing. You HAVE to do the inner work! Build confidence in who you are as a unique human being. Every morning state that your identity is strong. Play this song. Go and have that career/vocation you've always wanted. Express more of who you are without a focus on what others might think. Just keep working at it because over time you'll notice changes. And don't EVER be apologetic for who you are because you are a unique, one of a kind, special soul living in this wondrous universe!

You are your 'own special creation', so go be more of that.
